Steve Fuhr was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and grew up in Kamloops, British Columbia. He attended Trinity Western University, earning an aviation technology diploma before joining the Canadian Forces. As a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Steve held multiple roles, including A2 flight instructor, standards officer, CF-18 fighter pilot, and fleet manager. He was also a qualified evaluator for North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) fighter operations.

Steve's distinguished service earned him a Commander's Commendation as a Canadian NORAD Region Fighter Officer and a Chief of the Air Staff Commendation for leading a team tasked with re-establishing an Air Force Tactical Air Control capability to support Joint Task Force Afghanistan combat operations. In his final year, he led the modernization of course delivery at the Canadian Forces Instrument Check Pilot School.

After retiring from the RCAF in 2009, Steve transitioned to the private sector, joining SkyTrac Systems, a Canadian aerospace company specializing in satellite asset tracking and communications. He held leadership roles as vice president, director of business development, and later became president and CEO.

In 2013, Steve returned to flying as a captain on various transport category aircraft for a private Part 91 operator.

From 2015 to 2019, he served as the Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country, British Columbia, and chaired Canada's National Defence Committee (NDDN).

Currently, Steve continues to contribute to the aviation industry as a Transport Canada pilot examiner and aviation consultant.
